An American film-maker, Stanley Kubrick once said
If it can be written, or thought, it can be filmed.
Going literally by what the quote implied, we at Write Club, Hyderabad let our thoughts and imaginations flow to the wildest, some even the darkest of its corners to explore what screen-writing/screenplay writing/script-writing basically meant. The idea was to learn and understand the fundamental pedagogy that writing for films would involve. And we had Santosh, one of our learned and experienced writers, leading us on this.
The crowd this weekend was amazing! We had 18 (the highest so far) amusing writers join us this weekend and it was a distinct experience altogether. Of course, as I always have said, the more the people, the merrier the meet-up! And this weekend stood straight and tall for that belief! From the little that I could collect as a feedback, I can safely assume that this was one of the most fun meetups, by far, for most of our members! So, that cheer goes out to you, Santosh!
Well, since there was so much to learn, so much to discuss and so much to do, we only had time for a singular activity, although the plan was to do another. We had yet another thinker group activity at WC, this time and here it goes:
The participants will be divided into 3 groups, with a captain/leader for each. Each group will be given a hypothetical situation for which they will collectively need to construct an aftermath or a consequential story or narrative. The narrative can be as simple as an outline or as elaborate as a play. Each situation has specific instructions attached to construct the story based on the event that occurred.
The idea behind the activity is to build a sequentially placed timeline for the events of the story, whilst exploring imaginative and creative frontiers around the story
The hypothetical situations given were named as follows:
- Exam tension + dog barking scene
- Interrogation scene
- Bed-wetting Scene

Thank you, Santosh! And thanks to all the lovely people, who have made the evening all the more eventful! 🙂
All in all, it was a wonderful meetup, full with fun, laughter, colorful stories, knowledge, jokes and discussions, The perfect end to the week!
As always, please feel free to share your works and feedback on the theme and meetup, in the comments section. 🙂
