Meetup 017: Foreshadowing and Chaos Theory

Well hello there, writers! Yet again, we come to spam your inbox with updates on the recent meetup.

This week we had Aravind Sashank, one of our regular writers hosting a session on Foreshadowing and Chaos Theory. This was more than just a regular meetup, because the output left us wanting to write more. With the many references to all our favorite characters and movies, Aravind did a fine job in exposing us to the world of foreshadowing, which I believe was much needed. Chaos theory, alternate endings, butterfly theory, whatever you may call it, is just another way to blow away our minds on how best we can put words together.

With a gathering of more than 15 people, the meetup had all of its vibrancy.

Well, yes! We were lucky we had enough time to do two full-fledged exercises.

Use foreshadowing (setup and payoff) and build a compelling story. It was a pretty simple exercise and the stories that were woven around this, were just amazing.

Write a short story with two climaxes, each leading to due to their respective chain of events. Much like the reference to Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, we had multifaceted stories, some of which involving time travel, some using the idea of convoluted confusion. All the more fun! 🙂
