Last weekend was truly amazing. Meghavarshini, lovingly known as Meg/Megh, hosted a session. The day marking the speciality of Children’s Day, Megh was only the best choice to go to and boy, did she live up to it! It was a well-coordinated, well-planned, extremely exuberant session and truly a drive down the nostalgia line to have spent so much time with the excited children.
‘Writing For Children, With Children’- A session that brought writers together with their audience- children. Writers met and interacted with children and teenagers, talked to them about what they like in their stories, got to know characters they connect with and wrote a story for them.
Write Club, Hyderabad has imbibed in its nature, effortlessly so, to enable the young minds to open their imaginations to horizons beyond and out of their closets. This was first demonstrated when we had a session dedicated specifically to write Children’s Stories on Teacher’s day, as an educational practice.
On September 5th this year, we had written stories for children, to entertain and educate. On Children’s Day, we wrote stories with them.
The activity – The children in the different groups got to decide who the main characters in the story would be. The writers decided on the plot and together, they wrote a story that featured ideas, illustrations and even writings/dialogues by the children. The session was all about connecting with the imagination and vibrancy that children have to share and creating something that they are a part of.
Here are some pictures that might inspire you, like how the children inspired us! 🙂
See you guys, next weekend, when we have more fun, more writing on another interesting theme! As always, please feel free to share your feedback on the theme and meetup, in the comments section.
